Religion?! In My Feminism?: A Reproductive Justice Conversation

This is your invitation to join the NYC-Socialist Feminists and Religious Socialists for a four-part conversation on reproductive rights from perspectives of religion and feminism. We will be learning about the radical principles of reproductive justice and then critically applying those principles to a discussion on reproductive rights as portrayed in several religious traditions.

The first three sessions of this series will take the form of a virtual reading and discussion group. Participants will be assigned a few short readings (or viewings) before each session. We will then hold a critical discussion of the readings, holding in mind our commitment to radical feminist values and our dedication to pluralism and anti-imperialism.

The fourth session will be conducted as an in-person meeting, during which we will begin planning a direct action for reproductive rights, inspired by what we’ve learned together through reading and discussion.

Once we have decided on a plan of action, we may schedule more planning sessions in order to finalize our plans and then execute the action.

Meetings will be held at 7:00, via Zoom.

Schedule

  • Session 2 - Christianity, Judaism, and Reproductive Rights (TBD / virtual)

  • Session 3 - Hinduism, Islam & Reproductive Justice (TBD / virtual)

  • Session 4 - Action Planning Meeting (TBD / in-person)
